I live in Northern Illinois and work at the DeKalb Public Library. DeKalb has about 46,000 residents and is home to Northern Illinois University. The community is pretty diverse, it meets the national averages, and is the birthplace of barbed wire.

I am currently working on earning my Masters in Library and Information Services from the University of Alabama through the online program. I have worked in libraries since 1998 as a shelver, a program assistant, a circulation clerk, a book mender, a security and safety trainer, a graphics assistant, an assistant to the Youth Librarian, and an assistant to the Teen Librarian. Though my current job title is Tween Coordinator I still do most of the jobs listed above. I can’t imagine a life where I’m not surrounded by books and people who enjoy using the library.
